Contiguous pile wall

Contiguous piled walls are used where the groundwater table is below the excavation level using CFA techniques.

The wall consists of piles at centres typically 150mm greater than their diameter. Retained soil is exposed during excavation, and permanent works require an additional reinforced concrete lining to secure exposed soil and resist long term groundwater pressures.

Amplus offers this solution when short-term water retention is required. Primary piles are constructed using weak concrete and are formed with a gap between them.

Secondary piles of structural reinforced concrete are then installed between the primary piles, cutting into them on either side so forming an interlock.
